Tax advice in Madrid for businesses, the self-employed and individuals

Our Madrid-based tax advisers support businesses, the self-employed and individuals remotely throughout Spain. We do more than file returns: we examine your circumstances, explain the implications and assess the options before a decision or a response to the Spanish Tax Agency.

What our tax advice covers

Every case needs a different scope of work. These are the five areas through which we assess and support tax matters.

Understanding before action

Tax enquiries and advice

We answer questions and assess the tax implications before you make a decision.

A tax question may arise when starting a business, receiving income or considering a transaction. We examine what has happened or what you are planning, who is involved and which documents are available. This allows us to assess the implications and explain the issues to resolve before acting. You can request a one-off consultation or include this support in an ongoing service, depending on your needs and the agreed scope.

Compare scenarios

Tax planning before a transaction

We compare alternatives and their tax effects before you carry out a transaction.

Planning starts before commitments are made. We compare lawful alternatives and the effects of the timing or structure of a transaction. This is not a promise to achieve the lowest possible tax in every situation, but a way to understand the consequences of the available options. We relate the decision to your personal or business circumstances and any documentation obligations, explaining which issues need additional analysis.

Representation and response

Tax Agency requests, inspections and appeals

We review the Tax Agency notice, deadlines and documentation to prepare a response.

We review the Tax Agency notice and identify the action requested, such as providing documents, making representations or preparing an appeal. We establish the deadlines, case details and background before preparing a response. The work relies on the available documents and is defined according to the procedure. Submitting a response does not, by itself, predict the outcome or mean that the authority accepts its contents.

Significant transactions

Corporate and property transactions with tax implications

We assess the tax impact of purchases, sales, dividends and corporate changes.

We assess purchases and sales, dividends, related-party transactions, corporate changes and reorganisations where they have tax implications. The review connects the proposed transaction with its documentation and consequences for the company, shareholders or individual. Where it also affects accounting or corporate organisation, we coordinate those areas. The scope is defined for the specific transaction rather than treating every situation as the same procedure.

Tax advice for businesses, the self-employed and individuals

We offer ongoing support and one-off advice, coordinating other specialist areas when your decision calls for it.

Our process

How we provide tax advice in Madrid

Our tax advice in Madrid starts with understanding what has happened, the decision you are considering and the documents available. We then assess the options and their consequences, coordinate accounting, employment or corporate advice where needed, and explain the next steps. The process can also be carried out remotely.

  1. Reviewing the circumstances and documents

What has happened, what you want to do, the deadlines and the documents available.

  2. Assessing options and tax consequences

We review the applicable rules and compare possible approaches, including their effects and obligations.

  3. Coordinating accounting, employment and corporate advice

If accounting, employment or corporate matters are also involved, we address them together within the team.

  4. Our assessment and the next steps

We explain our assessment in plain language and agree how to proceed.

The starting point

Documents for reviewing your tax position

To begin, tell us what you need to resolve, the period involved and any relevant dates. You do not need to send all your documents in the first message. Once the enquiry is defined, we explain which returns, supporting records, contracts or notices need reviewing and how to share them.

If you have received a notice, keep the full document and the details of its receipt. If you are preparing a transaction, distinguish decisions already made from those still open. This allows the case to be assessed without treating circumstances that could change as settled.

Have you received a request from the Spanish Tax Agency?

The first step is to identify what the authority is asking for, the deadline and the documents that may be relevant. We review the notice and work with you on the appropriate action.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about tax advice

These answers explain how we work. The precise scope always depends on the case and the available documentation.

Do you only advise businesses and the self-employed?

No. MRC advises businesses and the self-employed on an ongoing basis and also helps individuals with specific tax matters. An income tax return, inheritance, gift or property transaction can be assessed without an ongoing advisory engagement.

Can I ask for advice before making a transaction?

Yes. Before you make commitments, we can review the proposed transaction, the people involved and the available records. The assessment compares options and tax consequences; it does not guarantee a particular saving.

Do you help with Tax Agency requests and inspections?

Yes. We review the full notice, case reference, deadlines and related records before defining the appropriate response. A document request, representations and an appeal are different procedures, so the route indicated for the case must be checked.

Is your tax advice in Madrid available to clients throughout Spain?

Yes. Although our office is in Madrid, we provide remote tax advice to businesses, the self-employed and individuals throughout Spain. We can review enquiries, transactions or Tax Agency notices without you travelling to Madrid. The scope and documents required are agreed for each case.

Can I request a one-off tax service?

Yes. You can request a defined enquiry, a transaction review or assistance with a Tax Agency notice. The issue, background documents and included work are agreed before starting, separately from ongoing support.

How much does tax advice cost?

Fees depend on the work, records, complexity and whether support is one-off or ongoing. MRC needs to understand the case before preparing a proposal that distinguishes included actions from possible additional work.

What documents do I need for an initial tax enquiry?

Start by explaining the issue, relevant dates and any notice or proposed transaction. MRC will then identify the returns, supporting records or contracts needed and the appropriate sharing channel. Do not send tax, identity or banking documents through the initial form.

What is the difference between tax advice and accounting services?

Accounting records and explains economic transactions; tax advice assesses their tax implications and related obligations. The two areas need consistent information but are not interchangeable. MRC can coordinate them within the agreed scope.
